We Are Moving Ahead From 'How We Organise Ourselves' to 'Sharing The Planet'

The unit on 'Transport' under the theme- 'How We Organise Ourselves' has come to an end and we have begun with a new unit on 'Plants'- under the theme 'Sharing the Planet'.

Students identified the places they wanted to travel on the World map and explained the different means of transport they will use to travel

Students presented their understanding using a World map

Students brainstorming and discussing about the different parts of a book with the teacher- title, cover page, contents, glossary and blurb

Representation of traffic on the road -  Students acting as vehicles on the road

Discussing the cause and effect of transportation systems
We started our new unit focusing on 'Plants' under the theme-'Sharing the Planet' with a nature walk.

Students collected different parts of the plant and sorted to group them according to their understanding and presented it before the class members.
Students collected soil from the school campus to sow the seeds for their plants
Students worked in centres with varied tasks such as sorting vegetables and fruits, drawing the different parts of the plants, identifying the similarities and differences between a real plant and an imitation one.

Students also went to the senior school science lab to understand the life cycle of plants with the help of germination of seeds slides and live examples of few projects. In one of the centres they observed the transverse section of leaf, root and stem under the microscope.

It is interesting to watch students learning about plants with a lot excitement and enthusiasm.
